YMCA of the Roses
The purpose of the Corporate Board is determine the planning and policy decisions, assure adequate funding, monitor and sanction events, and employ the CEO. This is merely an opportunity to explore your interest in a Corporate Board member position within the YMCA of the Roses. You will be contacted by the appropriate staff person to discuss corporate board opportunities.
1. Attend board meetings regularly. 2. Become informed in advance of agenda items. 3. Ask discerning questions, constructively participate in deliberations, and vote according to your convictions. 4. Assume leadership of board groups and events as requested (such as committee, task force, or special project chairs). 5. Assume a major responsibility on at least one standing committee and on task forces as needed. 6. Work in areas where your background and interest would be of value. 7. Assume a leadership role in the annual support campaign. 8. Make a contribution to the annual support campaign. 9. Employ and monitor the chief executive officer in conjunction with other board members (Corporate Board). 10. With other board members and staff, be sure the budget, policies, and program efforts are consistent with the YMCA’s goals and objectives. 11. Familiarize yourself with the YMCA’s mission, programs, and core values. 12. Be willing and able to act as interpreter of the YMCA in general and our association in particular. 13. Participate in Cluster, Field, and national activities and events, as appropriate.
